This Year’s Love

“This Years Love”
“This years love had better last
Heaven knows it’s high time
And I’ve been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you can’t go onTurning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet
This years love had better last
This years love had better last

So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don’t you know this life goes on
And won’t you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing ain’t this life so sweet

This years love had better last”

-David Gray

You ever listen to a song a hundred times, but not really hear it?

This is one of those songs for me. I have heard this song I don’t know how many times, but never really listened to what the song was saying. I’ve always loved the melody, the piano, his voice.

Finally, I looked up the lyrics a few days ago, and now I think this song is one of the most romantic and beatiful songs ever written. The words are simple, elegant, and timeless. It is now my MySpace song, and it’s a song that I would dance to under the stars, by the beach, or at my wedding (If I’m still young enough to dance by then!).

Maybe it just strikes a chord in me at this particular time in my life. Maybe I’m just tired of Alice in Chains. Who knows? Maybe it’s just reflecting my more mellow and softer side that’s showing these days. Yes, my friends, the Queen does have a softer side.

It is still one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

For now, I’m off to take my mellow self off to work on another query letter for the book I wrote. I received my first rejection letter today!

Here’s to David Gray!

Cheers!

I’m out!

  1. I’d love to see what movie that was on. I didn’t know it had been on a movie!

The book? It’s called All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Man. It’s a journal of my dating experiences for forty days right before Christmas. It was my first “funnel” experience. 🙂

  2. Well, I experienced humming melodies and loving the music and later checking the lyrics and loving it more…

Something like seeing a person at first sight or a place or a thing, and keep on longing to more … memorizing …learning more..

Like a song, you like to sing it more often…until you become familiar..

    Sentimental.

Nice to see this kind of blog…
